Conner enters the season listed as the backup behind Chris Morris. Originally signed with ACU out of Abilene HS, but instead enrolled at Cisco Junior College in fall 2004.

2006 (Junior): Had a solid season for the Wildcats after transferring to ACU from Cisco Junior College, finishing with 14 catches for 121 yards. His best game came in the regular-season finale against Midwestern State when he had three catches for 24 yards.

2004-05 (Cisco JC): As a sophomore in 2005, Conner caught 29 passes for 493 yards and five touchdowns to help CJC advance to the CHAMPS Heart of Texas Bowl where it beat Dodge City (Kan.)Community College, 47-28. Conner also lettered in both basketball and track at CJC.

High school: One of the top receivers in Abilene HS history, Conner finished his Eagle career with 70 receptions for 999 yards and 11 touchdowns. He ranks second in AHS history in catches behind current teammate Jerale Badon (115), fourth in yards and fourth in TD receptions. As a senior in 2003, Conner was named second team Class 5A all-state by the Associated Press and was a first team all-District 3-5A selection. He was a first team Class 4A-5A all-Big Country pick by the Abilene Reporter-News, and he was named to the ARN's all-Big Country Super Team.
