2006 (Redshirt freshman): Saw limited action in the defensive backfield, but was a solid contributor on special teams for the Wildcats. Finished the season with one solo tackle, that coming in the Wildcats' 41-38 win at Texas A&M-Kingsville on Nov. 4.
High school: Helped Abilene HS finish 12-1 on the season and win its first outright District 3-5A championship since 1958. As a senior in 2004, Walding had 89 tackles (66 solo), and he also recorded four interceptions and nine pass breakups. A two-time first team all-District 3-5A selection, Walding was an honorable mention Class 5A all-state selection as a senior in 2004. Walding was a first team academic all-state selection in 2004, and he was a two-time Abilene Reporter-News' all-Big Country selection.
