High school: Two-year letterman at Southwest Christian High School, and was an all-district player both as a junior and senior. After his senior season, he was invited to play in the Tom Hillary Classic (TAPPS All-Star Game), and he was voted the game's Defensive MVP. As a junior he led his team to the state quarterfinals, and then helped the team to another playoff appearance as a senior. He also lettered two seasons on the SWC basketball team. Helped the basketball team to the Final Four as a junior and the second round of the playoffs as a senior.
