2008 (Redshirt freshman): Played in 12 games with one start (Nov. 1 vs. Texas A&M-Kingsville), finishing with 50 tackles (29 solo). He also had one fumble return and two pass breakups. The fumble return was a fumble recovery in the end zone in ACU’s 66-7 win over East Central, giving Havins his first career touchdown.
High school: Havins was one of the top defensive backs in Central Texas, earning first team all-Centex honors by the Austin American-Statesman as both a junior and senior. Havins was a two-year first team all-district selection as a free safety at Westwood HS. He was also an all-state selection, two-year team captain and two-year all-region player. As a senior in 2006 he had 150 tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. As a junior he finished with 170 tackles, three interceptions and two forced fumbles, while as a sophomore he had 70 tackles, one interception and one forced fumble.
