2008 (Junior): Played in 11 games last year, missing only the Wildcats’ home win over Tarleton State on Oct. 25. Mathis finished the season with 25 tackles (15 solo), including 4.0 tackles for loss (minus-9 yards in losses) and one pass breakup. He had a season-high five tackles (four solo) in the Wildcats’ Nov. 1 win at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

2007 (Sophomore): Played in 12 games with seven starts at outside linebacker, finishing with 35 tackles (20 solo), including 5.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sacks. Mathis also had one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one quarterback hurry and one pass breakup on the season. Mathis had a season-high five tackles in three games, including in ACU’s 56-12 win over Mesa State (Colo.) in the first round of the NCAA Division II playoffs. All five of his tackles in that game were solo tackles, and he had a sack and forced fumble in the game as well. He had five tackles (three solo) and two tackles for loss in ACU’s 45-20 win over then-unbeaten Eastern New Mexico and five against Texas A&M-Kingsville (two solo).

2006 (Redshirt freshman): Mathis finished the season with 13 tackles (six solo) and one pass breakup. He had four tackles (two solo) in ACU’s 41-38 win at Texas A&M-Kingsville on Nov. 4.

High school: As a senior, finished with 79 tackles. He was a first team all-district and first team all-area selection. He was also a first team All-CenTex region selection by the Waco Tribune-Herald.
