Mathis will move to outside linebacker in 2007 after spending the 2006 season as a backup in the secondary. Mathis is listed as the backup to Jody Walker at outside linebacker entering the 2007 season. Mathis spent the 2005 season as a redshirt.

2006 (Redshirt freshman): Mathis finished the season with 13 tackles (six solo) and one pass breakup. He had four tackles (two solo) in ACU's 41-38 win at Texas A&M-Kingsville on Nov. 4.

High school: As a senior, finished with 79 tackles. He was a first team all-district and first team all-area selection. He was also a first team All-CenTex region selection by the Waco Tribune-Herald.
