Will compete for the punting job in 2007 after redshirting in 2006.
High school: Evans was a dominant two-way player for the Tigers, who finished 13-2 and finished as Class 4A Division II semifinalists. Frenship lost, 28-21, to eventual state champion Hebron in the semifinals. A three-year letterman, Evans played free safety on defense and wide receiver on offense and was the punter. As a senior he had 64 tackles, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries and 13 passes broken up in the secondary. Offensively he had 13 catches for 299 yards and five touchdowns, and averaged 36.0 yards per punt. He was first team all-District 4-4A at wide receiver, safety and punter. He was also named to the Lubbock Avalanche Journal's all-South Plains and all-city teams, and he played in the West Texas Coaches' Classic. He was also a three-year letterman in basketball, and as a senior center he was named the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal's all-South Plains Team, and he was named the Offensive Player of the Year.
Personal: His cousin, Lynn Scott, is a former reserve defensive back for the Dallas Cowboys. Born 23 March 1987. 2006 graduate of Frenship High School.
