Biography

Enters the 2007 season No. 2 on the Wildcats' depth chart at quarterback.  

2006 (Sophomore): Saw action in seven games off the bench for the Wildcats, completing 7 of 14 passes for 129 yards and one touchdown.  In the regular-season finale against Midwestern State, completing 4 of 6 passes for 81 yards and one touchdown.  He was forced into action in the Wildcats' 30-27 overtime NCAA playoff loss at West Texas A&M late in the third quarter because of an injury to starter Billy Malone.  Bird completed 2 of 6 passes for 34 yards in his playoff appearance.

2005 (Redshirt freshman):  Played in six games as the backup quarterback with a pair of starts.  His best game was in ACU's Oct. 22 road win over Tarleton State when he completed 16 of 23 passes for 192 yards, directing an offense that racked up 422 yards in an 18-7 victory.  He started the next week against nationally ranked Texas A&M-Kingsville, and although he threw for just 71 yards, he led the Wildcats to a 19-3 win over the Javelinas.  Bird also started the season-finale at Midwestern State, and in split duty with regular starter Billy Malone, threw for 160 yards in a 35-30 loss to MSU.  In ACU's come-from-behind 20-14 overtime win over Northeastern State, Bird came off the bench in the second half to replace Malone, who was injured early in the third quarter.  Bird threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Jerale Badon with 1:10 to play to tie the game at 14-14.  ACU won the game in overtime on a touchdown run by Rashon Myles.  

High school: Bird finished his career with 5,681 yards passing and 46 touchdowns.  As a senior in 2003 he threw for 2,384 yards and 19 touchdowns at Lake Travis, earning second team all-district honors. He was the leading passer in Central Texas and was selected to the Central Texas All Star Team.  As a junior at Mission High School, he threw for 2,140 yards and 19 touchdowns, earning second team all-district honors.   Bird led Mission to an 11-2 record and a state quarterfinal playoff appearance.

Personal:  His father, Jerry Bird, was an all-Big Sky receiver on the 1981 NCAA Division I-AA national championship team at Idaho State. Born 14 Aug 1985.  2004 graduate of Lake Travis High School.
