High school: Perez enjoyed an outstanding senior season, leading Rio Hondo to a 10-3 record and earning first team all-district and all-Rio Grande Valley honors. He was also a second team Class 3A All-state selection by the Associated Press Sports Editors, and was a second team all-state selection by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. Perez did not allow a sack his senior season and helped Rio Hondo reach the area round of the state playoffs for the first time in school history. Played for head coach Rocky James.
