High school: As a senior in 2012, McKinnies was voted second all-District 19-5A. As a senior, McKinnies finished with 59 tackles (18 solo), including nine tackles for loss. He also had five sacks, 10 quarterback pressures and three forced fumbles. He was an honorable mention selection to the all-district team after his junior season in 2011.
