However, he was a key cog on an ACU offensive line that helped the Wildcats produce one of the top offenses in NCAA Division II football. ACU finished third in NCAA Division II football in passing offense (296.8 yards per game), fourth in total offense (434.2 ypg), sixth in scoring offense (35.5 points per game), and first in fewest fumbles (three) and fewest overall turnovers (nine). Additionally, the ACU offensive line allowed just 12 sacks in 11 games in 2006.
2005 (Redshirt freshman): Moved into the starting lineup at left guard in the second week of the season and stayed there throughout the rest of the season, except for the Oct. 15 game against West Texas A&M when he missed the contest against the nationally ranked Buffaloes. Thompson earned honorable mention all-Lone Star Conference South Division honors.
High school: Served as team captain and was named first team all-district. Helped lead Lincoln to a 10-2 record and spot in the Class 4A Division II playoffs where it lost in the area round to Highland Park.
