Will redshirt as a freshman in 2007. Played quarterback in high school, but will be a receiver at ACU.

High school: Johnson was a four-year letterwinner at Shallowater HS where he helped his team to a 6-5 record in 2006. As the quarterback he finished his senior season with 2,027 yards passing while completing 170 of 293 attempts. He also rushed for 365 yards on his way to first team District 3-2A honors. He was part of Shallowater's 2003 Class 2A state semifinalist and caught two touchdown passes in the state semifinal game. Johnson was also a four-year letterman in basketball and helped Shallowater win the Class 2A state championship in 2004. He was a two-time first team all-district and 2006 all-region selection at forward. He also lettered in track and field for Shallowater.

Personal: His mother, Carol (Hurt) Johnson, is an ACU graduate. Born 12 Aug 1988. 2007 graduate of Shallowater High School.
