Hawkins will battle for playing time in the seconday after transferring to ACU from Kilgore College. 2004-05 (Kilgore College): Started in the secondary for the Rangers and collected 21 tackles as a sophomore in 2005. High school: Played defensive back and wide receiver and returned kicks and punts at Chapel Hill HS. As a senior he caught 23 passes for 723 yards and seven touchdowns and added 40 tackles and 12 pass breakups. He also had eight interceptions, 20 kickoff returns for 525 yards and 14 punt returns for 450 yards. As a senior he was a first team all-district selection at wide reciver and defensive back. An accomplished track and field star at Chapel Hill, Hawkins advanced to the Region II-3A meet in three events as a senior, finishing third in the triple jump (45-0.25), third in the long jump (22-8.75), and fifth in the high jump (6-0.0).
