High school: One of the top fullbacks in the state in 2006, leading Vernon HS to the Class 3A Division II semifinals before a loss to Celina ended its season. Whiteside, a standout on both sides of the ball â?“ ran for 1,934 yards and 24 TDs to earn first team all-district honors. He was the MVP of the Wichita Falls Times Record-News' Red River 22 team and was selected to play in the Texas High School Coaches' Association All-Star Game. He finished the game with five carries for 15 yards in a 14-0 North loss.
