Badon enters the 2007 campaign as one of the top returning receivers in NCAA Division II football. He will go into his final season as a Wildcat needing just five catches to become the program's all-time leader in receptions and just 253 yards away from becoming the program's all-time leader in receiving yards. Badon had five 100-yard receiving games in 2006 and is third on the ACU career list with eight such games behind only Ronnie Vinson and the late Johnny Perkins, each of whom had 12 100-yard career games.
2006 (Junior): Badon posted the best season of his career in 2006 with career-bests in catches (63), yards (973) and touchdown catches (five). He was named first team all-Lone Star Conference South Division and was voted the division's Receiver of the Year. He was named third team NCAA all-Southwest Region by Don Hansen's Football Gazette, and was voted second team NCAA all-Southwest Region by Daktronics. Badon was a key cog in a Wildcat offense that was third in NCAA Division II football in passing offense (296.8 yards per game), fourth in total offense (434.2 ypg), and sixth in scoring offense (35.5 points per game). Badon's 63 catches in 2006 are the third-highest single-season total in ACU history, while his 973 yards are the eighth-best total and the most in a season by an ACU receiver since Cle Montgomery's 1,168 yards in 1977. Badon closed the regular season with three straight 100-yard receiving games, including a 14-catch, 147-yard tour de force in ACU's 37-36 loss to Tarleton State on Oct. 28. The 14 catches set a new ACU single-game record and left him one catch short of tying the LSC single-game record. In the Wildcats' 41-38 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville on Nov. 4, Badon had just four catches, but they went for 165 yards and one score. He took the second play of the game 63 yards for a touchdown, and he had another catch of 53 yards later in the first half. At halftime he had three catches for 131 yards and one touchdown, but he missed most of the second half with a strained knee ligament. However, with the game at 38-38 with 1:03 to play, Badon re-entered the game and on
first-and-10 from the Kingsville 42-yard line with less than 20 seconds to play, he and Billy Malone hooked up on a 34-yard catch-and-run that took the ball down to the 8-yard-line before Badon stepped out of bounds with 2.6 seconds to play. Matt Adams then hit a 25-yard field goal on the final play of the game to give the Wildcats a 41-38 victory. The next week against Midwestern State, he had eight catches for 117 yards and two scores on a bad knee, an injury that kept him out for most of the Wildcats' 30-27 NCAA Division II playoff loss at West Texas A&M.
2005 (Sophomore): Followed up on a solid freshman campaign with one of the best receiving seasons in recent ACU history with 59 catches for 783 yards and four scores. His 59 catches are the fifth-best single-season total in school history. Badon posted three 100-yard receiving days, including one of the greatest games in ACU history in a 42-24 loss to Southeastern Oklahoma State on Oct. 1. In the game, Badon had 13 catches for 205 yards and one score. His 205 receiving yards in the game is the sixth-best total in school history and was the first 200-yard receiving day by an ACU receiver since Reggie McGowan set the school single-game record with 228 yards in an Oct. 5, 1985, win over Stephen F. Austin State. He finished third in the LSC in catches per game, and he was sixth in yards per game. Badon was voted first team all-LSC South Division after the season and was the top vote-getter among receivers in the league.
2004 (Freshman): Badon led the Wildcats with 40 catches for 521 yards and three scores, the best numbers ever posted by an ACU freshman receiver. Was named second team all-Lone Star Conference South Division. Began his collegiate career with back-to-back 90-yard receiving games: 5 catches for 98 yards and one TD vs. Central Oklahoma, and 9 catches for 90 yards vs. Northeastern State. He had six catches for 85 yards and one touchdown in ACU's thrilling Oct. 16 win over West Texas A&M.
High school: Finished his high school career with 116 catches for 1,853 yards and 17 touchdowns, ranking in the top five in all three categories in the long and illustrious history of District 3-5A. Badon was first team Class 5A all-state by the Associated Press and the Texas Sports Writers Association. As a senior he had 66 catches for 1,168 yards and 11 TDs. As a junior, Badon recorded 50 catches for 585 yards and six touchdowns. Named to the Abilene Reporter-News All-Big Country Super Team in 2001 and 2002. Two-time all-district selection as he led the Eagles to a district title in 2001.
