Biography

Young, listed as the starter at right guard going into the season, is one of the top returning offensive linemen in the nation in 2007.  After starting 11 games in 2006, Young has started 29 games in his three years as an ACU offensive lineman.  Young has already been named second team pre-season all-America by Consensus Draft Services.

2006 (Junior):  Young was named the Lone Star Conference South Division Offensive Lineman of the Year, first team all-LSC South Division, second team NCAA all-Southwest Region by both Don Hansen's Football Gazette and Daktronics, and he was a first team NCAA Division II all-America selection by collegesportsreport.com.  Started in all 11 ACU games in 2006 and was the ringleader of an ACU offensive line that helped produce one of the top offenses in NCAA Division II football in 2006.  ACU finished third in NCAA Division II  football in passing offense (296.8 yards per game), fourth in total offense (434.2 ypg), sixth in scoring offense (35.5 points per game), and first in fewest fumbles (three) and fewest overall turnovers (nine).  Additionally, the ACU offensive line allowed just 12 sacks in 11 games in 2006.  Young is a pre-med major who was an academic all-LSC South Division selection in 2006.  He also earned first team academic all-District 6 honors from ESPN The Magazine. 

2005 (Sophomore):  One of only two ACU offensive linemen (Sam Collins is the other) to start and play in all 10 games on the Wildcat line.  He helped ACU improve its offensive output by almost 100 yards per game over 2004.   Young earned honorable mention all-Lone Star Conference South Division honors. 

2004 (Redshirt freshman):  Started at center in eight games and played in nine overall, helping running back Rashon Myles rush for 865 yards and earn second team all-conference honors. 

High school:  Three-year starter on the line for the Bulldogs.  Young was team captain, first team all-district and Class 4A honorable mention all-state in 2001 and 2002.  He was first team academic all-state in 2002.  Named to the Amarillo Globe-News Super Team in both 2001 and 2002.  Named to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal's all-South Plains team in 2002, and was an A-J top-10 recruit in 2002-03.
