Three Wildcats Tied for Fourth Place After First Round at WAC Championship

McKINNEY, Texas - Three Wildcats tied for fourth place as Abilene Christian men's golf settled into second place following the first round at the Western Athletic Conference Championship on Monday. Colin Leonard, Jack Hollingsed and Grégoire Hoyeau each scored 1-over 73 at The Dye Golf Course at Stonebridge Ranch while ACU shot 7-over 295.
The Wildcats will tee off between 9:40-10:20 a.m. Tuesday to get the second round started. ACU is grouped with first-place UT Arlington and third-place Tarleton State to form a Texas trio atop the leaderboard. The Wildcats are three strokes back of the Mavericks and three ahead of the Texans.
ACU is the leading team in the field on par 4s at 7-over and is tied for the most pars with 53. The Wildcats are matched with Tarleton State for the most golfers within the top 10 with three.
Leonard logged an even-par 36 on the back nine to wrap up the opening round. He tied for fifth with four birdies and drew for second on par 4s at even par. Hollingsed birdied three holes and minimized his mistakes, tying for the second-fewest bogeys with just two. He tied for sixth with 12 pars and joined Leonard in shooting even on par 4s.
Hoyeau, who closed the regular season with an individual title at the Robert Kepler Invitational, tallied three birdies and tied for fourth on par 4s at 1-over.
Thomas Buisson followed in a tie for 17th place at 4-over 76. After carding 4-over 40 on the front nine, he finished his day strong at an even 36 on the back nine. Buisson had two birdies and was ACU's top performer on par 3s, tying for fifth at 1-over. Tres Hill rounded out the lineup in a draw for 27th at 7-over 79.
