Honea Moves Into Top Spot at WAC Championship as ACU Maintains Share of First Place

MCKINNEY, Texas - Abilene Christian women's golf held onto a share of first place through two rounds at the Western Athletic Conference Championship on Tuesday. Ryann Honea moved to the top of the leaderboard at even-par 144 while Maddi Kamas followed in a tie for second place at The Hills Golf Course at Stonebridge Ranch.
Entering Wednesday's final round at 19-over 595, the Wildcats look to punch their first ticket to an NCAA Regional with a conference title. Jasmine Do tees off first for ACU at 9:40 a.m.
The Wildcats displayed a one-stroke improvement in the second round at 9-over 297. They're the top team in the field on par 4s and par 5s at 19-over and 2-under, respectively. ACU has the second-most birdies with 24. It's tied with Tarleton State, who jumped three spots with a 1-over 289 second round. UT Arlington is 12 strokes back in third place at 31-over 607.
No. 95 Honea delivered the best round in the field on Tuesday at 3-under 69, a six-stroke improvement to rise seven spots. She collected six birdies and scored 3-under 33 on the back nine to end her day. Honea, who won the conference title in 2024 and finished runner-up last season, is tied for the most birdies with eight. She's drawn for the lead on par 5s at 3-under and tied for third on par 4s at 1-over.
Kamas shot 4-over 76 to follow at 1-over 145. For the second day in a row, she birdied No. 8 and No. 15 while scoring 1-over 37 on the back nine. Kamas is tied for the top showing on par 4s at 2-under, and her seven birdies are tied for fourth.
Kate Pickrell was the final Wildcat in the top 10, tying for ninth at 6-over 150. She scored 2-over 74 on Tuesday with three birdies, including on her final two holes. Pickrell shot at or below par on each of her last 12 holes. She tied for third on par 4s at 1-over.
Jiyu Han scored 7-over 79 to tie for 19th at 13-over 157. She shot on par on each hole on the back nine. Do rounded out ACU's lineup in a draw for 23rd at 14-over 158. She scored 6-over 78 with a pair of birdies.
