ORLANDO, Fla. - Abilene Christian women's golf's Ryann Honea was named a Team USA candidate for selection for the Arnold Palmer Cup, the organization announced Saturday. The 30th edition of the event will be held at the Palmer-designed Tralee Golf Club in Ireland on July 3-5, and final selections will be released in May.
The Arnold Palmer Cup, established by the legendary golfer and the Golf Coaches Association of America in 1997, features the United States' top men's and women's collegiate golfers competing against their international counterparts in a Ryder Cup-style tournament. It is the only major tournament in which men and women play side-by-side as partners.
Over 245 former Palmer Cup participants have earned cards on the PGA, DP World or LPGA Tours. Forty-six have represented their homelands in the Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup or Solheim Cup, and more than 95 have captured over 435 victories on the PGA, DP World, LPGA or Ladies European Tours. The United States leads the Palmer Cup series, 15-13-1.
"We look forward to welcoming the world's best collegiate golfers to Tralee Golf Club to play boldly and honor the legacy of Arnold Palmer," Amy Palmer Saunders, board chair of the Arnold & Winnie Palmer Foundation, said in a press release. "In addition to introducing the next generation of young golf talent, this tournament celebrates camaraderie, honor and integrity – the qualities of good character that make a true champion."
Honea builds upon an illustrious career as a Wildcat that includes six tournament victories, 14 top-five performances and 18 top-10 placements. She has qualified for the past two NCAA Tournaments and was named the Western Athletic Conference Co-Golfer of the Year last season. Honea is a two-time All-WAC First Team honoree.
This season, the San Angelo, Texas native has recorded four top-five placements, including a title at The Lady Clerico. Honea won the WAC individual title in 2024 and placed second at the WAC Tournament last season. She has been named the conference's Women's Golfer of the Week on six occasions.
Off the course, Honea earned her Bachelor's degree in information systems in just three years and is a two-time Academic All-WAC and WGCA All-American Scholar selection. She captured CSC Academic All-District accolades last year.
