ARLINGTON, Texas - Abilene Christian women's golf's Ryann Honea was named the Jersey Mike's A Sub Above WAC Women's Golfer of the Week, the Western Athletic Conference announced Thursday. Honea logged her fourth top-five placement of the season with a runner-up showing at the PING ASU Invitational in Phoenix this week.
It's the sixth Golfer of the Week honor of Honea's career after carding a 7-under 209 at Papago Golf Club, finishing one stroke back of the individual champion. She was one of four golfers to score under par in each round, opening at 4-under 68 before registering a 1-under 71 in the second round. Honea closed at 2-under 70 on Wednesday to secure the second-best distance to par of her career.
The senior recorded her 14th top-five performance and 17th top-10 effort of the past three seasons. Honea powered the Wildcats in the final round to a two-spot rise to ninth place in a field featuring 10 top-100 programs. ACU placed five strokes in front of reigning national champion Northwestern.
Honea tied for fifth with 12 birdies and drew for the sixth-fewest bogeys with just five across three rounds. She placed within the field's top 10 for scoring on par-3 and par-4 holes. Honea tied for second on par 3s at 2-under and drew for seventh on par 4s.
Honea has placed within the top five at four of seven events this season, including an individual title at The Lady Clerico in the fall. She was tabbed the Jersey Mike's A Sub Above WAC Women's Golfer of the Month in September 2025.
Honea and the Wildcats continue their run of three tournaments in as many weeks at the Coach Mo Classic, hosted by Furman at St. Johns Golf & Country Club in St. Augustine, Fla. on March 30-31.
