Honea Remains in Draw for Fourth Place Through Two Rounds at PING ASU Invitational

PHOENIX - Ryann Honea held onto a tie for fourth place as Abilene Christian women's golf closed out the second round of the PING ASU Invitational in 11th place at Papago Golf Club on Tuesday. Honea shot under par for the second consecutive round at 1-under 71 to total 5-under 139.
The Wildcats showed a one-stroke improvement from the first round at 7-over 295 to total 15-over 591. Teams will begin Wednesday's third and final round with a 10 a.m. (CT) shotgun start.
Honea got started on hole No. 10 and scored an even-par 36 on the back nine before closing at 1-under 35 on the front nine. She's tied for the best performance in the field on par-3 holes at 2-under and drew for fifth on par 4s at 2-under. Honea's eight birdies are tied for seventh-most in the field after tallying three on Tuesday.
Maddi Kamas rose four spots into a tie for 33rd at 2-over 146 after shooting an even-par 72. She matched Honea with 25 total pars and birdied three holes in the second round. Kamas scored 2-under 34 on the back nine.
Kate Pickrell rose a spot to tie for 64th place at 8-over 152. Like Kamas, she improved by two strokes to shoot 3-over 75 on Tuesday. She notched a couple of birdies on the back nine to score an even 36. Jiyu Han followed in a draw for 69th at 10-over 154 with a 5-over 77 in the second round. She matched Honea and Kamas for the team lead in pars with 25.
Jasmine Do rounded out ACU's lineup in 87th place at 16-over 160. Julia Vollmer, competing as an individual, tied for 75th at 12-over 156 with a 4-over 76 in the second round.
