ABILENE - Abilene Christian women's basketball's Erin Woodson and Jazmyn Stone were recognized for their success in the classroom with Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday. It's the third consecutive season that multiple Wildcats have received the distinction.
Eligible student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, hold at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and have competed in 90% of their team's games or started at least 66% of its matchups.
Woodson touts a 4.00 GPA while studying kinesiology on the pre-physical therapy track. Stone has a 3.83 GPA and is pursuing a degree in health sciences.
ACU kicks off its postseason play at 6 p.m. Tuesday versus Florida International in the second round of the Postseason WNIT. The Wildcats and Panthers will play at Hardin-Simmons' Mabee Complex while Moody Coliseum is being prepared for Sing Song.
Woodson shined on the court for ACU this season to garner All-Western Athletic Conference Second Team accolades. Through the WAC Tournament, she ranked in the conference's top 10 for scoring (14.0 ppg), rebounding (6.4 rpg), free throw percentage (.755) and steals (1.9 spg). Woodson's 33.4 minutes per game lead the Wildcats.
The junior guard scored 10 points or more in all but five games while starting each matchup and was named the Jersey Mike's A Sub Above WAC Player of the Week twice.
