
Woodson Named Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above WAC Player of the Week for Second Time

ARLINGTON, Texas - Abilene Christian women's basketball's Erin Woodson earned Jersey Mike's A Sub Above WAC Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, the Western Athletic Conference announced Monday. Woodson led the Wildcats to a pair of victories over Utah Tech and Utah Valley last week.
It's the sixth weekly accolade of the year for ACU, matching the program's record for one season set in 2015-16. Woodson was previously recognized on Jan. 20, with Payton Hull being honored on three occasions and Meredith Mayes once.
Woodson averaged 15.5 points last week while shooting at a .409 clip. She added 11.5 rebounds to average a double-double, 6.0 assists and one steal per game with a 4.0 assist-to-turnover ratio. Woodson averaged the most assists and third-most rebounds by a WAC player last week. She played 79 of a possible 80 minutes.
The junior guard paced the Wildcats in a 76-66 win over the Trailblazers on Feb. 26 with her second career double-double. Woodson scored 23 points and brought down a career-high 14 rebounds while playing the entire 40 minutes. She matched her career bests with six assists and eight free throws. It tied for the most points and the second-most rebounds in a game by a WAC player last week.
Woodson scored at a 6-of-13 clip with a trio of three-pointers and two steals. She turned the ball over just once and drew eight Utah Tech fouls. Six of Woodson's rebounds came on the offensive glass, where ACU outdid Utah Tech in second-chance points, 15-2.
The Richmond, Va. native neared another double-double as the Wildcats pulled out a 58-57 victory versus the Wolverines on Feb. 28. Woodson chipped in eight points with nine boards, again adding six assists in nearly 39 minutes.
Woodson has five 20-point games this season, tied for sixth-most in the conference. She ranks sixth in the WAC with 14.28 points per game while touting a .442 field goal percentage. Woodson's .748 free throw percentage ranks sixth, and her 1.93 steals per game are good for ninth.
Woodson averages 1.90 offensive rebounds per game to rank 10th in the conference. She's also in the top 15 in rebounding, assists and three-pointers per game.
ACU, now second in the WAC standings, battles for first place versus conference leader California Baptist at 6 p.m. Thursday at Moody Coliseum. The Wildcats will honor senior Breanna Davis and graduate assistant Hannah Page in a pregame ceremony.
