Hull Earns Second Straight Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above WAC Player of the Week Honor

ARLINGTON, Texas - Abilene Christian women's basketball's Payton Hull earned her second consecutive Jersey Mike's A Sub Above WAC Player of the Week honor, the Western Athletic Conference announced Monday. Hull rattled off a program Division I-record 36 points at Tarleton State, scoring the most points by a Wildcat since 2011-12.

Hull powered ACU to a pair of road victories at UT Arlington and Tarleton State last week to improve to 10-3 in conference play. It's the fifth Player of the Week honor of her career, tying the Wildcats' leading scorer, Alexis Mason, for the most in team history.

Hull has been named the Jersey Mike's A Sub Above WAC Player of the Week three times this season, marking five total weekly honors for ACU alongside Meredith Mayes and Erin Woodson. Hull was recognized twice in 2024-25 and was the TicketSmarter WAC Newcomer of the Week on three occasions as a freshman in 2023-24.

The Peaster, Texas product's 36 points against the Texans on Feb. 14 are the most scored by a WAC player this season. She became the third Wildcat in the Division I era to score 30 points or more on three occasions, joining Breanna Wright and Mason.

Hull connected on nine of 18 shots, including a 5-of-9 mark from three-point range in a 72-67 win versus Tarleton State. She sank 13 free throws, the second-most in the conference this year, on 14 attempts and brought down five rebounds with a team-high three steals in the entire 40 minutes. Hull helped ACU rally from a six-point deficit entering the final period in Stephenville and complete a regular season sweep of Tarleton State.

The junior guard opened her week with another sterling performance, logging 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting in a 72-63 win at UT Arlington on Feb. 12. She matched her season high with a pair of blocks to go with two steals.

Hull paces the conference in scoring at 18.8 points per game, and her 12 20-point efforts lead the WAC. She is averaging 25.8 points in her last six games with 20 points or more in six of her last eight contests. Hull became the fifth conference player to register 30 points or more this season.

Hull ranks fourth in the WAC with both a .429 field goal percentage and an .825 free throw clip. In conference play, her scoring average has risen to 19.7 points per game. She's tied for first with 2.9 steals per game.

ACU returns to action at 3 p.m. (CT) Sunday versus Southern Utah in Cedar City, Utah. The Thunderbirds are third in WAC after both teams split their previous two matchups this season.
