Wildcats Tied For Third With Honea, Vollmer in Top 10 at Red Raider Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas - Abilene Christian women's golf landed in a tie for third place following two rounds at the Red Raider Invitational at The Rawls Course on Tuesday. The Wildcats logged a 9-over 585 to draw with UTSA entering Wednesday's final round.

ACU closes out the tournament with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start.

Aiming for her third consecutive top-three performance to begin the season, Ryann Honea powered ACU in a tie for fourth place at even-par 144. Julia Vollmer joined her in the top 10, tying for seventh place at 1-over 145. The San Antonio product is on the heels of a draw for third place at last week's The Lady Clerico.

Host Texas Tech leads the 15-team field at 5-over 581 with Houston Christian in second place at 7-over 583. A nine-stroke cushion separates the Wildcats from fifth-place Ball State, with sixth-place James Madison 16 strokes back of ACU. New Mexico's Ava Cepeda and UTSA's Lauren Rios are tied for the individual lead at 3-under 141.

The Wildcats stand in the top five for shooting on par 3, 4 and 5 holes and tied to tally the fourth-most pars with 112. The Wildcats are one of two squads to record an eagle with Vollmer and Marissa Loya each shooting one on No. 8 in the first round.

Honea carded a 1-over 73 in the opening round before leveling out with a 1-under 71 in the next round. She tied for fourth with seven birdies, four of which came on the front nine in the second round. Honea tied for eighth and sixth place on par 4s and par 5s, respectively. She and Jiyu Han are the two Wildcats competing in the Red Raider Invitational for the third season in a row.

After shooting an even-par 72 in the first round, Vollmer fired a 1-over 73 in the second to land just behind Honea. She shot on or below par on 16 of 18 holes in the first round. Vollmer leads ACU on par 4s at 1-under.

Following an 11th-place outing at The Lady Clerico, Maddi Kamas returned to the top-15 with a tie for 15th at 3-over 147. She showed a three-stroke improvement from the first round to the second, rebounding from a 3-over 75 with an even-par 72. Kamas tied for eighth with 25 pars.

Han followed in a draw for 20th place at 5-over 149 with a 1-over 73 first round. Like Kamas, she tied for eighth in the field with 25 pars. Competing as an individual, Jasmine Do tied for 26th at 6-over 150, including a 1-under 71 first round.

Also competing individually, Loya tied for 54th at 11-over 155. Kate Pickrell rounded out the Wildcats in 80th place at 20-over 164, showing a four-stroke improvement from one round to the next.
