Wildcats Look to Continue Strong Play at Red Raider Invitational in Lubbock

LIVE STATS

LUBBOCK, Texas - Abilene Christian women's golf looks to build upon a successful showing at The Lady Clerico as it competes in the Red Raider Invitational at The Rawls Course on Tuesday and Wednesday. It marks the third consecutive season the Wildcats have competed at the tournament hosted by Texas Tech.

Teams will play two rounds at the par-72, 6,815-yard course on Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Wednesday's third round will begin with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start.

ACU carries much familiarity with the course, placing fourth at the event in 2023 and eighth last season. Ryann Honea tied for 12th place on the individual leaderboard in 2023, while Jiyu Han tied for 39th. Last year, Honea and Julia Vollmer each placed within the top 10 and under par with Han, Kate Pickrell and Jasmine Do also in the field.

Honea returned to The Rawls Course this past May to compete in the NCAA Lubbock Regional, where she tied for 41st place.

The Wildcats will bring their entire roster to Lubbock, with Honea captaining the lineup. Maddi Kamas, Vollmer and Pickrell return for their third tournament of the year, while Han makes her season debut. Do and Marissa Loya will compete as individuals.

ACU joins a 15-team field featuring 10 programs from the state of Texas, including Texas Tech, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Sam Houston, UT Rio Grande Valley, UTEP, Incarnate Word, UT Arlington, UTSA and Houston Christian.

California Baptist is the third representative from the Western Athletic Conference and joins New Mexico, Ball State, James Madison and Central Arkansas. A&M-Corpus Christi, Houston Christian and California Baptist each placed within the top three at their respective conference tournaments in 2024-25.

The Wildcats are coming off a second-place showing at the inaugural The Lady Clerico in Bartlesville, Okla. where Honea captured the sixth individual title of her career. She fired an 11-under 205 to earn a five-stroke victory while recording the lowest-scoring tournament in program history.

Honea's 5-under 67 first round set Hillcrest Country Club's ladies course record and matched the program record already held by Honea and Han. It's her 15th career top-10 performance and second of the year after tying for third place at the season-opening Boilermaker Classic.

Kamas landed in 11th place at The Lady Clerico, scoring 1-over 217 with a 1-under 71 in the final round. The Oklahoma City transfer built upon her 9-over 225 at the Boilermaker Classic.

Vollmer met Honea in The Lady Clerico's top five, tying for third place at 5-under 211 while competing as an individual. It's the best score of her career by three strokes and her second top-10 effort. Vollmer tied both Honea's course record and the program's lowest-scoring round, also held by Honea, with a 5-under 67 effort in the third round.

Pickrell landed in a tie for 21st place at 7-over 223, marking her best performance since a tie for fourth place at last season's West Texas Classic. Do and Loya finished in 37th and 43rd place, respectively, as they embark on their sophomore campaigns.
