Ryann Honea's third-place performance at the Boilermaker Classic pushed Abilene Christian women's golf to an eighth-place finish after three rounds at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
Honea carded a 3-under 69 in the tournament's final round to rise three spots from the previous day and close at 3-under 213. It's the 10th top-three showing of her career after she placed second at the Boilermaker Classic last season.
The Wildcats logged a 31-over 895 for the event, dropping one spot on the leaderboard after the third round. Ole Miss captured the team title at 2-under 862 with a pair of golfers in the top five. Indiana, who finished one stroke behind Ole Miss, touted the individual champion in Madison Dabagia at 7-under 209.
ACU shot second-best in the field on par 5s at 3-under, one of just two teams to shoot below par on such holes. The Wildcats' performances on par 3s and par 4s were each good for sixth.
Honea was one of seven golfers in the field to record an eagle, doing so on the fourth hole. She notched three consecutive birdies on No. 11-13, scoring a birdie on the par-4 No. 11 in each round. Honea tied for fourth on par 4s at 2-under and tied fifth on par 5s at 3-under.
Maddi Kamas tied for 28th place at 9-over 225 in her first tournament as a Wildcat. She rebounded from a 6-over 78 in the second round to card a 3-over 75 on Tuesday. She tied for third-best on par 3s at 2-under.
Jasmine Do recorded her best round of the tournament to slot into a draw for 38th place at 11-over 227. She fired a 2-over 74 in the third round, the Wildcats' best performance after Honea, and tied for third on par 5s at 4-under.
Kate Pickrell bounced back from a 10-over 82 second round with a 4-over 76 in the third. She tied for 48th place at 14-over 230.
The Wildcats return to the course on Sept. 15-16 for The Lady Clerico, hosted by Oral Roberts at Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville, Okla.
