NORMAN, Okla. - Abilene Christian men's golf was recognized with the 2024-25 PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Tuesday afternoon. It marks the 11th consecutive season that the Wildcats have earned the honor for their work in the classroom.
ACU was named an All-Academic Team for sporting a team grade point average over 3.0 for the 2024-25 academic year. A record 292 programs across six divisions received a PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award, 129 of which garnered Presidents Special Recognition for holding an average team GPA of 3.5 or higher.
ACU was one of four Western Athletic Conference programs to earn a PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award.
The Wildcats built a 3.450 GPA in the fall 2024 semester with two student-athletes recording a 4.0 and five of the roster's 10 golfers qualifying for the Dean's List. In the spring, the team recorded a 3.326 GPA, including three 4.0 students and five Dean's List honorees.
For the seventh season in a row, multiple ACU golfers were named
All-America Scholars by the GCAA, as Grégoire Hoyeau,
Preston DeFriend and
Jaime Lewis picked up the accolade. The trio also represented the Wildcats on the
College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
Six ACU golfers were recognized as
Academic All-WAC honorees, as Hoyeau, DeFriend and Lewis joined
Jack Hollingsed,
Trenton Johnson and
Colin Leonard on the team.
