ABILENE - Abilene Christian women's basketball looks to return to the win column this week as it hosts McMurry and visits East Texas A&M. The Wildcats host the War Hawks at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Moody Coliseum before traveling to take on the Lions at the Field House in Commerce, Texas at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
ACU's matchup with McMurry is part of the team's Field Trip Day, presented by Domino's Pizza. Hundreds of elementary school students from across the Big Country will be in attendance to cheer on the Wildcats against the Abilene-based War Hawks.
Roman Raffaeli (play-by-play) and Caysson Higgins (analyst) will be on the call on ESPN+, with Ashley Henderson reporting from the sidelines.
The Wildcats are aiming to find their footing after dropping both of their games at the Elevance Health Women's Fort Myers Tip-Off in Fort Myers, Fla. last week. ACU fell to Big Ten foe Northwestern 62-59 before suffering an 80-74 loss to Bradley.
Meredith Mayes totaled 34 points and 15 rebounds between both contests, while
Payton Hull amassed 33 points and five steals. The Wildcats registered their second-best shooting performance of the season versus the Braves, including their highest clip from three-point range.
A win versus McMurry would improve ACU to an undefeated 4-0 at Moody Coliseum this season, where they've won eight consecutive games dating back to last year. The Wildcats have won each of their four matchups with the War Hawks with an average margin of victory of 48 points.
The Wildcats could improve to 5-3 and mark their best start to a season since 2021-22 with a win over the War Hawks.
ACU has met East Texas A&M twice in the Division I era, claiming victories in 2013 and 2024. Hull and
Emma Troxell combined for 29 points against the Lions in a 74-59 win at Moody Coliseum last season, while Mayes added nine points and 11 rebounds. The Wildcats are 20-7 versus the Lions this century.
