ABILENE – Abilene Christian Head Women's Basketball Coach
Julie Goodenough announced another addition to the Women's Basketball program with the signing of Erin Woodson on Wednesday.
Woodson, a 6-0 guard from Richmond, Virginia, spent the past season at Purdue-Fort Wayne where she was a four-time Horizon League Freshman of the Week along with being named to the All-Freshman Team. In her first year at the NCAA level, Erin averaged 5.4 points per game, including a season-high 17 in her second career contest, while shooting 34.6% from three for the season. She paired this with 99 total rebounds and 31 steals to round out an impressive freshman campaign.
A two-time team captain at Saint Gertrude High School, Woodson totaled over 2,000 points during her prep career. Ranked as the No. 5 shooting guard and No. 25 overall player in the state of Virginia for the class of 2023 by Prep Girls Hoops Virginia, Erin carries an impressive championship resume including:
- 2022 First Team All-State
- 2022 First Team All-Conference
- 2022 First Team All-Metro
- 2022 MVP STATVA Tournament
- 2022 MVP BCCC Tournament
- 2022 SGHS Athlete of the Year
- 2020-21 VISSA Division 1 State Champion
- 2021-22 VISSA Division 1 State Final Four
"Just thrilled to add Erin to our Wildcat family! She is a long wing player who can really shoot threes but can also finish drives in the paint," Goodenough said. "We do love offensive skills, but Erin brings a good defensive savvy that allows her to deflect passes and force turnovers. With an impressive academic record too, Erin will be a great ambassador for ACU."
"I chose ACU because the minute I stepped on campus it felt like home," said Woodson. "I loved the coaches and players. The facilities are top-notch! I know I can grow and develop as a basketball player and am excited to play in the WAC and compete for a championship!"
