ABILENE - The second day of the inaugural Western Athletic Conference Fall Invitational at ACU's Eager Tennis Center, showcasing a series of competitive matches as ACU squared off against UT Arlington in both singles and doubles semifinals.

The morning opened with ACU's doubles team, Ethan Scribner and Daniel Morozov, taking on UT Arlington in a tense semifinal match.

The pair made a strong effort, keeping pace with UTA in both sets. Despite a closely contested battle, ACU ultimately fell 6-3, 6-4, closing their doubles run with a semifinal finish.

"We had a good chance, being the number one seed and all," head coach Juan Nunez said. "Ethan and Danny have been doing things well. We started doing exactly that. There was a point in the first set where we could have gone up for one two breaks up and ended up not capitalizing there."

"After that, the whole match changed, and doubt kind of crept in with us," said Nunez. "And then the errors just kind of started raining after that and we, we couldn't find ourselves back into the rhythm of the match."

In the afternoon, Daniel Morozov returned to the court to represent ACU in the singles semifinals, again facing UT Arlington.

Morozov stayed determined, quickly building a 3-0 lead in the first set. However, UTA ultimately took control, with Morozov falling 6-4, 6-2.

"Danny started well, and then his energy went down and then couldn't similar," Nunez said. "He's always going to fight, he's always going to compete, but, his energy went down. He was almost fighting himself and competing against himself on top of his opponent."

This tournament marks the first-ever WAC Fall Invitational, and ACU is honored to be the inaugural host. Bringing together some of the top talent in the conference, this event has provided a significant opportunity for players to compete at a high level in a new fall format.

"To have the conference here and be able to expose our fans to the level we play at, it can get people excited for the spring."

Nunez talks about the potential ACU has in hopefully hosting more events like the WAC Fall Invitational.

"We have a great facility," Nunez said. "Hopefully this is the beginning of us hosting potentially, the conference championship in the spring. But, just being able to be at home, I think it's always good. And we don't get to host that many tournaments in the fall. So for us to be able to do that was exciting."

The WAC Fall Invitational Finals will be underway on Sunday, October 27. The Men's and Women's doubles will take place first at 9 a.m. C.T. Shortly after, the Men's and Women's Singles Finals will be at Noon C.T.
