ABILENE – Abilene Christian men's and women's golf added married assistant coaches to their programs this fall.
The husband-wife team of Robby Pickett and Ali Green will assist with the men's and women's teams, respectively. Both have head coaching experience.
Green comes to ACU from the University of Dayton, where she was the head women's golf coach from 2021-23. Her team produced seven top-5 finishes, eight WGCA All-American Scholars and three All-Conference honorees.
Green served as the head girls' golf coach at Lakota East High School from 2017-21.
She was a four-year starter on the Ashland University golf team from 2012-16 and received her bachelor's degree in education (intervention specialist – mild to intensive) in 2016.
"I am beyond excited to announce Ali Green as our first ever women's assistant golf coach," said ACU Head Women's Golf Coach Rob Bennett. "Ali is coming to ACU after serving as the head coach at Dayton where she led the Flyers to new heights in her two years at the helm. Ali has a very strong resume as well with a few Ohio Women's State Amateur titles under her belt among many other accomplishments on the course.
"I really think we hit the jackpot with Ali. To get a coach of her caliber here in our new program is really a dream. She has a lot to offer our young ladies as we look to compete for WAC championships and I know she will hit the ground running when she arrives in Abilene."
Pickett comes to ACU after serving as head coach of men's and women's golf at Thomas More in 2022-23. He held the same position the season before at Lake Erie College. He also served as an assistant coach at Denison and was a graduate assistant at Ohio Dominican.
Pickett finished his senior season at Allegheny College with a 74.1 scoring average – the third-best in program history. He was 2016 AC Male Athlete of the Year, a first-team All North Coast Athletic Conference honoree and was selected for the 2016 NCAA Great Lakes All-Region team. He received his bachelor's degree from AC in 2016 and his MBA from Ohio Dominican in 2019.
"It is with great excitement that we introduce Robby Pickett as our new men's assistant golf coach. He comes with a wealth of experience as both an assistant and a head coach," said ACU Head Men's Golf Coach Tom Shaw. "Robby also is an excellent player, having qualified for the USGA Mid-Amateur championship.
"Robby has an extensive skill set beyond his college coaching experience, with certification in the mental game, USGA rules and the Titleist Performance Institute. He also has vast experience caddying for elite players, so he will impact our student-athletes immediately with his on-course presence. We look forward to welcoming Robby and his wife, Ali, to the ACU campus soon.
