Cats Move up in Louisiana

CHOUDRANT, La. – Abilene Christian trimmed six strokes off of its first-round score to finish the second round one-under-par as a team at 287 on Monday at Louisiana Tech's Argent Financial Classic.

"We played better as a team today, although I still feel like we're not running on all cylinders," said ACU Head Coach Tom Shaw. "We're definitely leaving some shots out there. But it's good to have another day to improve and learn about our games. We have a good group of young men who I look forward to seeing develop into champions."

Trenton Johnson shot a three-under-par 69, picking up four birdies on holes 6, 9, 14 and 17.

Zane Heusel also was under par for the round, firing off a 70 with birdies on holes 1, 8 and 9.

Preston Cooper was one-over at 73 while birdying holes 1, 8 and 12.

Grégoire Hoyeau, Thomas Buisson and individual Brian Comegys all carded 75s. Buisson had birdies on 2, 5, 9 and 18; Hoyeau birdied 4, 6 and 11; and Comegys was one-under on holes 1 and 2.

ACU moved up to 10th on the team leaderboard.

Heusel is 19th at 143 after two rounds. Johnson, Comegys and Cooper are tied for 30th at 145. Hoyeau sits in 47th at 147 and Buisson is in 70th at 151.

The Wildcats had a good day on the first and ninth holes with three birdies on each. Hole 1 is a 388-yard par-4 and nine is a par-5, 546-yarder.

Hosted at Squire Creek, the tournament concludes with the third round on Tuesday.
