Men's Hoops Set for Island Tournament

ABILENE – Abilene Christian plays three games in four days in the Virgin Islands this weekend at the Paradise Jam.
 
The long weekend of games begins Friday with a 2:15 p.m. (Central) contest against San Jose State. The Cats will get Saturday or Sunday off and will close out the true tournament format on Monday.
 
Norfolk State, Fordham, Hampton, Kent State, Missouri State and Florida Gulf Coast are also in the tournament. The tournament will be a traditional eight-team bracket. Action begins on Friday, Nov. 17, with Norfolk State vs. Fordham facing off at noon followed by Abilene Christian and San Jose State at 2:15 p.m. In the evening doubleheader, Hampton will take on Kent State at 4:45 p.m., while Missouri State and Florida Gulf Coast will tangle at 7 p.m. All times are Central.
 
ACU heads into the tournament with a 1-2 record after Prairie View A&M put on a free throw show, hitting 32 of 33 attempts for 97 percent to beat the Cats 79-74.
 
San Jose State enters at 2-1 after falling this week at Texas Tech, 56-42. Missouri State is 2-1 after a 15-point win against Oral Roberts. Florida Gulf Coast is 1-2 after an eight-point loss at Pittsburgh. Kent State enters at 2-1 after beating Fresno State by 10. Hampton is 1-2 following a loss at Norfolk State, which put NSU at 3-0. Fordham is 1-1 after a five-point loss to Cornell.
