Wildcats drop 92 points on NAU to snap losing streak

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The Wildcats bounced back in a big way on Sunday afternoon to snap a three-game losing streak with a 92-82 win over Northern Arizona. Six different Wildcats scored in double figures and the team shot a scorching 57 percent from the field to earn the win. The team trailed by a point at the half but were able to use a 9-0 run early in the second half to retake the lead and held it the rest of the way.

ACU returns to Abilene and Moody Coliseum this week for two games. The team will host North American on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and then Arlington Baptist on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Key Plays
- Damien Daniels and Immanuel Allen hit threes to get the scoring starting for the Wildcats as they took a 6-4 lead early.
- A three from Hunter Jack Madden put the Wildcats up by five with 11:59 to play in the first half.
- The Lumberjacks answered with a 12-2 run behind four consecutive threes to take a five-point lead of their own.
- Another three from Allen put the Wildcats back on top, 25-23, with 7:44 left in the first half.
- NAU took a three-point lead with just a few seconds left in the half, but the Wildcats were able to go the length of the floor to get a shot attempt and Tobias Cameron cleaned up the miss to get the Wildcats within one at the half.
- After the Lumberjacks opened the second half on an 8-2 run, Airion Simmons converted a three-point play to get the Wildcats back within four with just over two minutes gone in the second half.
- Cameron Steele hit a three and on the next possession got a putback layup to tie the game at 55.
- Simmons made a beautiful skip pass to Steele on the wing for a three to put ACU up nine, their largest lead of the game so far, 74-65.
- ACU took their largest lead of the game on a fastbreak layup where Simmons found Cameron behind the defense putting them up 86-71.
- Allen led the Wildcats in scoring once again with 16 points on 5-8 shooting.
- Steele went a perfect 4-4 from the field and 3-3 from deep for 11 points.
- The Wildcats shot 57 percent from the field and 56 percent from three as a team, their 10 made threes were the most in a game this season.
- All nine players who saw the court on Sunday scored five or more points with six players scoring 11 or more.
- Tobias Cameron and Damien Daniels will need just one more win to reach 100 career wins in a Wildcat uniform.
- Simmons returned to the court and scored 11 points and dished out a team-high five assists.
