NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Wildcat soccer team returned to action Friday night after a 19-day hiatus, and dropped its Southland Conference opener at SFA, 2-0. The Wildcats (4-3-2, 0-1 SLC) did record two more shot attempts than the Ladyjacks (4-2-2, 2-0 SLC) in the match, 14-12, but struggled to get them into the back of the net. SFA scored once in each half to separate themselves.
The Goals
- 33' | SFA's Destiny Davis scored in the top left corner of the net.
- 84' | SFA's Jamie Jezierski put the game away for good with a goal in the upper right side.
The Numbers
- The Wildcats held a 14-12 edge in shot attempts, but only placed four on frame.
- Brittney Harris led ACU with three shots, a season-high for the senior.
- Christina Arteaga, Natalie Wodka, Brennan Reuland, and Faith Husbenet each tallied two shot attempts.
- Erin Smith recorded a pair of saves.
- ACU trailed 4-3 in corners earned.
Head Coach Casey Wilson
"I am not disappointed with how we played tonight. Both teams looked good and played tough. We just were not on the winning side. The chances were there for us but didn't find the back of the net. We will bounce back."
Up Next
- ACU was originally supposed to go to Huntsville, Texas for a Sunday matchup with Sam Houston, but that game has been postponed to March 16 due to COVID-19 issues with the Bearkat program. The Wildcats will take the pitch at Elmer Gray Stadium for the first time in 2021 next Friday, March 5 when they host Lamar at 7 p.m.
