ACU golf adds Comegys, Grigsby for 2022

ABILENE, Texas – The ACU golf team and head coach Tom Shaw have announced the signings of Austin native Brian Comegys and local product Karson Grigsby for the upcoming season.

"I've watched Brian develop this summer into one of the best players in the state of Texas. He has really blossomed into the type of student, athlete, and person who will flourish at Abilene Christian," Shaw said. "Brian's work ethic, confidence level, and team-first attitude will be highly valued amongst the team and coaching staff. We are very lucky to have signed a player of his caliber from the ultra-competitive golf region of Austin."

"I've been waiting a long time for a local golfer to demonstrate elite ability and also choose to remain in his hometown. We are so blessed to have Karson make the decision to attend Abilene Christian. Karson checks all of the boxes for a prototypical ACU student-athlete: he is one of the best players in Texas, he excels in the classroom, is a team-first player, and has a huge heart for the Lord," Shaw said. "He is in a perfect spot to continue his growth in golf, school, and ministry. Karson could have attended power 5 programs but realized that his best opportunity to improve his game, get a first class education, and be around great teammates lay right here at home, at Abilene Christian University. It is a huge day for our program to add a person like Karson to the team."

- 4th in the LJT Bluebonnet Invitational
- 15th in the LJT Byron Nelson Invitational
- Top 25 finish in the Texas State Junior
- Jackie Burke South Team qualifier
- Voted team captain
