ABILENE - Abilene Christian head golf coach Tom Shaw Thursday announced the addition of graduate school transfer Cade Osgood to the Wildcats' 2020-21 roster. The Austin native is a three-time All-America and finalist for the Jack Nicklaus Award.
Osgood comes to ACU following a decorated four-year career at Southwestern University. His impressive collegiate resume includes the following accolades:
2019-2020 Season
71.6 scoring average
First Team All American
2018-2019 Season
72.4 scoring average
Second Team All American
2017-2018
73.3 scoring average
First Team All American
Jack Nicklaus Finalist
Osgood's list of honors also includes spots on the 2019 PING All-Region West Team and 2018 GCAA All-Region roster. His long list of SCAC prizes is headlined by three all-conference awards (2017-19), plus six Golfer of the Week citations. He was the 2018 SCAC Medalist and was named 2018 SCAC Golfer of the Year.
"Cade Osgood will be an excellent addition to our team," said Shaw. "We've never had a graduate transfer, but we discovered that Cade possessed just the right attributes to make an impact on our squad next year, so it was an obvious choice. Not only is Cade a tremendous golfer, twice being named first-team All-American while at Southwestern University, but his academics are first rate and he is a young man of outstanding character. We're glad to have him join the Wildcat family!"
Osgood's Southwestern teams won two conference championships and made a pair of national championship appearances. This past spring, Southwestern recorded a 291.6 team scoring average.
A 2016 Anderson High School graduate, Osgood will be pursuing a Masters of Science in Management while at ACU. He made the Southwestern Dean's List in three semesters and twice has been tabbed to the SCAC Academic Honor Roll. The GCAA presented him with the title of All-America Scholar after the 2019 season.
