LUBBOCK, Texas – The ACU women's soccer team learned a lot about itself over the last two games against power-five schools. The Wildcats (3-2) fell at the hands of the Texas Tech Lady Raiders, 3-0, in the first half of its weekend road trip. All three Tech goals came in the first half, but the ACU defense stepped up its game in the second.
The Goals
- 2', Kirsten Davis, Texas Tech
- 28', Hannah Anderson, Texas Tech (PK)
- 28', Demi Koulizakis, Texas Tech
The Numbers
- Despite only tallying four shot attempts, two were placed on frame.
- Christina Arteaga's three shot attempts led the way for ACU, contributing both shots on goal.
- ACU held Tech to just 11 shot attempts over the course of 90 minutes.
- Junior Erin Smith recorded three saves on the night.
Head Coach Casey Wilson
"We learned a couple hard lessons the last two games against [Texas] A&M and [Texas] Tech. When we miss assignments, good teams will take advantage. However, after we settled in we were able to play and create some dangerous opportunities. But there just needs to be more composure in order to put those opportunities away."
Up Next
- ACU heads to Portales, N.M. for a date with former Lone Star Conference rival Eastern New Mexico. Kickoff with the Greyhounds is slated for 12 p.m. CT on Sunday, Sept. 8.
