WTEN remains undefeated in Southland with 5-2 win vs. UNO

ABILENE – Abilene Christian women's tennis continued its winning ways at home, against the Southland Conference, and vs. the New Orleans Privateers following Sunday's 5-2 indoor win at the Teague Events Center.

The victory lifted the Wildcats' season and conference records to 10-8 and 6-0 and kept them unbeaten in their all-time series vs. UNO at 6-0.

ACU won its previous two duals against the Privateers by a 4-3 margin, but today the Wildcats started with three-consecutive points as a pair of doubles triumphs at the top two lines were followed by senior Autumn Crossnoe Bellow's three-set win over Salma Abdelrahim, 6-0, 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, and sophomore Nini Memishishi's comeback victory against Ank Vullings, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Bellow and Memishishi are both 4-2 against Southland opposition this spring.

Two wins by UNO cut ACU's lead to 3-2, but the Wildcats would soon receive their match-clinching point at the No. 5 line where freshman Allison Stewart knocked off Brittany Johnson in convincing fashion, 6-0, 6-1.

Stewart won both her league matches at home this weekend in improving to 10-9. She also is a team-best 6-0 vs. Southland opponents.

Sophomore Ileana Mocciola scored ACU's final team point at No. 6, beating Lea Alguacil, 6-3, 6-2, for spring victory No. 10.

ACU now has won five of its last six doubles points and its 11 combinations on the season have a combined record of 38-27 (.585).

The Wildcats return to action and continue their four-match homestand Friday, April 5 with an 11 a.m. match vs. Lamar. They then play host to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Sunday, April 7 at 1 p.m.
