Box Score COLLEGE STATION — No. 18 Texas AM scored three runs in the second inning and added four more in the seventh Tuesday night as the Aggies knocked off ACU, 8-2, in non-conference baseball action at Blue Bell Park.
The win pushes A&M to 7-0 all-time against ACU and 30-11 on the 2018 season. ACU, meanwhile, falls to 19-20 overall and will carry that record to New York this weekend for a three-game non-conference series against Siena in Loudonville, N.Y. The teams will play a single game Friday and a doubleheader Saturday and all three games can be heard on 98.1 FM.
In the bottom of the second, Cole Bedford blasted the first pitch he saw from
Ryan Knowles deep over the wall in center field to plate Hunter Coleman and Cam Blake in front of him to give the Aggies a 3-0 lead. A&M tacked on another run in the third on an RBI single to right field by Will Frizzell.
ACU got back in the game in the seventh when
Derek Scott drove in a run with an RBI groundout to make it 4-1. But ACU left runners at second and third in the inning and the Aggies would score four runs in the bottom of the seventh to put the game on ice.
Knowles took the loss for the Wildcats to fall to 1-2 on the season.
Riley Donahue had two of ACU's six hits in the game, while Matt Munoz,
Caleb Kyle,
Dalton Dunn and
Seth Watts each had one hit apiece for the Wildcats.
