Josh Sheehy Tuesday received his second Southland Conference Player of the Week award of the 2018 season and sixth of his career after leading the Abilene Christian men's tennis team to a 4-0 record last week. Southland Conference Players of the Week are presented by UniversalCoin.com.
The Wildcats began their week at home with matching 7-0 wins vs. neighboring teams from Hardin-Simmons and McMurry, and later defeated second-ranked NAIA program Xavier (La.) before topping league rival New Orleans, 5-2. ACU's five-match winning streak has lifted its overall and conference records to 14-8 and 3-0.
Sheehy was a perfect 3-0 last week in the top flight of singles matches and earned two additional doubles wins at the No. 1 slot. The Arlington native now has won his last six singles matches, and his opponent from Xavier (La.) – Catalin Fifea – is the 20th ranked NAIA player in the country. He also capped his week with a 6-1, 6-2 defeat of New Orleans' Federico Boscarino.
Sheehy, who last won the league's weekly award on Jan. 30 and four times last season as a sophomore, leads the Wildcats with a 14-5 overall singles record and is a spotless 3-0 vs. the Southland Conference with two matches remaining.
The Wildcats next hit the court on April 14 at Incarnate Word for an 11 a.m. CT first serve.

Her doubles record is 14-4 after making her season debut this past week at the No. 2 line with sophomore Sarah Eleanor Adams.
