Kansas State completes series sweep of Wildcats

Box Score MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State scored 11 runs in the first two innings of the game Sunday afternoon en route to a 14-3 win over ACU in the final game of a three-game series at Tointon Family Stadium.

The win clinched a series sweep of the Wildcats by Kansas State and dropped ACU to 12-29 on the season. Kansas State, meanwhile, is now 24-20 after the three wins over ACU.

ACU is back in action Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. when it takes on TCU at Lupton Stadium in Fort Worth in the completion of a game that was started in Abilene on March 21. That game was stopped in the top of the fifth inning with two outs and two runners on base and TCU designated hitter Luken Baker at the plate. That's where the game will resume Tuesday night.

On Sunday, ACU starting pitcher Keaton Brewer – who threw five innings of shutout baseball in last Sunday's 9-0 win over Lamar – gave up 11 runs on 10 hits in 1 2/3 innings against Kansas State before being lifted for Nick Skeffington. Three ACU pitchers – Brewer, Skeffington and Doug Dyer in his first appearance of the season – failed to record a strikeout in the game.

Kansas State hit four home runs in the game among its 16 hits, while ACU had two doubles among its seven hits.
