MANHATTAN, Kan. – The ACU Wildcats will continue their break from Southland Conference play this weekend with a three-game series against Kansas State of the Big 12 at Tointon Family Stadium.

The series was to have been played Friday-Saturday-Sunday, but rain and cold in the forecast for the weekend has forced the series to be shifted to a Friday doubleheader (2:30 p.m. / 6:30 p.m.) and a single game either Saturday or Sunday, depending on how the weather plays out.

Here's a brief look at each team going into the series:

• Abilene Christian (12-26, 2-19 Southland) – The Wildcats beat Baker (Kan.) University, 7-0, Wednesday night in a neutral-site game in Emporia, Kan., to win for the third time in the last six games. … ACU is 1-10 away from home this season with their only road win coming on March 15 when they beat Texas-Arlington, 9-1. … Since then, the Wildcats are 0-9 on the road with all nine losses coming on league play. … Since beginning the transition from NCAA Division II affiliation to NCAA Division I in 203-14, the Wildcats are 0-17 vs. Big 12 competition (0-7 vs. Texas Tech, 0-4 vs. Oklahoma State, and 0-3 vs. both TCU and Oklahoma). … ACU and Kansas State have only played twice previous to this weekend, and that came on April 1, 1966, in Abilene, when they split a doubleheader with ACU winning the first game, 7-0, and K-State winning the second game, 12-5. … Senior OF Russell Crippen is closing in on the all-time top 10 in several categories, including hits (192; needs seven more to tie for 10th), doubles (43; tied for 10th), home runs (17; two from tying for 10th), and total bases (292; 19 from tying for 10th). … Senior IF Aaron Draper is tied with Crippen in career hits with 192, and has 700 career at-bats going into the weekend. … Sophomore OF Derek Scott – who is 2-0 on the mound – has made a huge leap from an injury-plagued freshman season when he had just 15 hits in 103 at-bats (.146 average). … He enters the weekend hitting .333 (52 for 156) with four home runs and 16 RBI from the No. 2 spot in the lineup.

• Kansas State (21-20, 4-11 Big 12) – K-State is in last place in the Big 12 and is hitting just .261 on the season. … K-State's pitching staff, however, is allowing opponents to hit just .257 against it, and has a team ERA of 4.68. … Will Brennan leads the team in hitting at .357 to go along with 17 RBI. … The Wildcats' are powered by Jake Scudder, who is hitting .290, but has hit 12 home runs and driven in 47 runs. … Quintin Crandall has hit eight home runs for the Wildcats.
