MANHATTAN, Kan. – The ACU Wildcats will continue their break from Southland Conference play this weekend with a three-game series against Kansas State of the Big 12 at Tointon Family Stadium.
The series was to have been played Friday-Saturday-Sunday, but rain and cold in the forecast for the weekend has forced the series to be shifted to a Friday doubleheader (2:30 p.m. / 6:30 p.m.) and a single game either Saturday or Sunday, depending on how the weather plays out.
Here's a brief look at each team going into the series:
• Abilene Christian (12-26, 2-19 Southland) – The Wildcats beat Baker (Kan.) University, 7-0, Wednesday night in a neutral-site game in Emporia, Kan., to win for the third time in the last six games. … ACU is 1-10 away from home this season with their only road win coming on March 15 when they beat Texas-Arlington, 9-1. … Since then, the Wildcats are 0-9 on the road with all nine losses coming on league play. … Since beginning the transition from NCAA Division II affiliation to NCAA Division I in 203-14, the Wildcats are 0-17 vs. Big 12 competition (0-7 vs. Texas Tech, 0-4 vs. Oklahoma State, and 0-3 vs. both TCU and Oklahoma). … ACU and Kansas State have only played twice previous to this weekend, and that came on April 1, 1966, in Abilene, when they split a doubleheader with ACU winning the first game, 7-0, and K-State winning the second game, 12-5. … Senior OF
