League's TV Schedule (through Oct. 1)
FRISCO – Four of ACU's first five football games of the 2016 season will be broadcast to a nationwide audience, according to the Southland Conference television package, which was announced Tuesday.
Last season, six of the Wildcats' 11 games were broadcast to a nationwide audience either on over-the-air television or ESPN3, and the season before that (2014), six of their 12 games were broadcast to nationwide audiences.
The Wildcats will get their season started on Saturday, Sept. 3, in Colorado Springs, Colo., against the Air Force Academy in a game that will either be broadcast on TV or on the Mountain West Network. ACU opened its season last year against Fresno State in a game that was carried on the Mountain West Network.
After the home-opener against Northern Colorado on Sept. 10 in a game that, for now, is scheduled to be carried only on acusports.com for viewing purposes, the Wildcats' next three games will be available to nationwide audiences.
ACU will be in Houston on Saturday, Sept. 17, to take on Houston Baptist in a 7 p.m. kickoff on Fox College Sports, and then the next week (Sept. 24) the Wildcats will be in Nacogdoches to play Stephen F. Austin in a 6 p.m. kickoff on ESPN3. Finally, ACU will host Central Arkansas on Saturday, Oct. 1, in a 2:30 p.m. kickoff at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene in a game that will be broadcast on the American Sports Network.
For games on Oct. 8 and beyond, the conference will reveal most television choices 12 days prior to kickoff. This will allow for the best matchups to be selected each week for various partners.
ESPN will exercise its option to make the initial choice most weeks, placing a top-tier game on ESPN3, its multi-screen network. The American Sports Network's selected game will be syndicated throughout the region and beyond. Cox Sports Television will also make several choices, scattered throughout the schedule.
For games not selected by conference partners, individual schools will have the ability to produce broadcasts via television or online outlets.
