Thomas leaves IAAF Championships with bronze medal in 4x100-meter relay

BEIJING, China - Former Wildcat All-America and Southland Conference Champion turned assistant coach Reyare Thomas won the bronze medal with the Trinidad and Tobago 4x100-meter relay during the Friday afternoon competitions at the 15th IAAF World Championships.
Thomas ran the third leg for a team that set a national record of 42.03 seconds. She was joined on the relay by Kelly-Ann Baptiste, Michelle-Lee Ahye and anchor Semoy Hackett.
The defending champions from Jamaica again won gold in this event with a championship record time of 41.07 and the United States settled for silver with a mark of 41.68.
In the preliminary stage, Trinidad and Tobago placed second to the USA (42.00) in the second heat (42.24).
Earlier in the week Thomas reached the semifinals of the 200-meter dash.
She qualified for the semifinals after recording a time of 23.09 seconds that placed her third of seven runners in the sixth (of seven) heats. She then placed seventh in the first of three semifinal races with a mark of 23.03 seconds.
Senior Johnathan Farquharson also was at IAAF Worlds this week with the Bahamas 4x100m, but he did not race during the heat stage, where his country placed sixth behind a season best of 38.96.
