ABILENE - Several former and current members of the Abilene Christian Track and Field team soon will be traveling north for the start of next week's events at the Toronto 2015 Pan-Am Games.

Graduate assistant coach Reyare Thomas - ACU's 200m record holder (23.51) and two-time Southland Conference indoor champion will continue her busy summer of competition by representing her homeland of Trinidad and Tobago in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay. Last month Thomas posted a lifetime best of 11.22 seconds in the 100m to place third at her country's national meet and won the 200m in 22.97. And in May her 4x100m relay placed third (42.87) behind Jamaica and the United States at the IAAF/BTC World Relays.

After Toronto, Thomas will compete at the NACAC Championships in Costa Rica (Aug. 8-10) and the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China (Aug. 22-30).

Current Wildcats Rosen Daniel, Johnathan Farquharson, Corneil Lionel and Jessica James will be following a similar route to Thomas as all have qualified for Pan-Am and NACAC, but need to run a little faster at either of these meets to get to Worlds.

James, a junior and native of Couva, placed third at the Trinidad and Tobago national meet in the 400m, which qualified her for the 1600m relay in Toronto and Costa Rica. Her relay, however, needs to run a 3:30 to make it to Beijing.

In her first season with the Wildcats, James was the Southland indoor runner-up in the 400m (55.95) and third with the 4x400m relay (3:45.65) and distance medley relay (12:04.41). She also won two races at the Texas Tech Masked Rider Open.

Farquharson, a senior from Freeport, Bahamas, placed fourth in the 100m (10.40) at his country's national meet to qualify him for the 4x100 and 100 meters at the Pan Am Games and NACAC. Unfortunately, he got hurt during the 200m, an event which he won at the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships (20.75).

This spring Farquharson also was the conference outdoor runner-up in the 100m (10.30) and with the 4x100m relay (40.35). Indoors he scored points for the Wildcats in the 60m (6.89) and 200m (21.39).

At last month's St. Lucia National Championships Wildcat junior Rosen Daniel won the 400m title with a lifetime best of 46.13 seconds and was second in the 200m (20.66) to qualify for the Pan Am Games and NACAC. Lionel, who redshirted this past season, was second in the 100 meters.

Daniel was stellar at the indoor conference championships during his first year as a Wildcat, winning the 200m in 21.32 and placing third in the 400m at 47.08. He also was part of ACU's third place 4x400m relay (3:12.51).
