Shaw adds four golfers to 2015-16 roster

ABILENE – ACU head golf coach Tom Shaw announced Wednesday that he has added four players to the team's roster for the 2015-16 season.
Shaw has added McLennan Community College transfer Ryan Beatty, and has signed Garrett Glanton of Trinity Christian High School, John Biavati of Prestonwood Christian High School and Jack Connor of Southlake Carroll High School to binding national letters-of-intent. Shaw – who directed the Wildcats to a fifth-place finish at the Southland Conference Tournament in his first season – loses No. 1 player Corbin Renner off this year's team, but returns the bulk of his team, including freshman Clarke Hudgins, who finished 11th at the conference tournament.
Shaw said he expects the four incoming players to have an immediate impact on the 2015-16 Wildcats.
"My first recruiting class at ACU first and foremost embodies young men of great character," Shaw said. "These incoming freshmen not only have great character but they represent excellence on the golf course as well, each having outstanding high school careers. They are now fully prepared to join the ranks of NCAA Division I collegiate golf. These young men chose ACU not only for the opportunity to be part of a winning athletic tradition, but also because ACU seeks excellence in its students and, more importantly, offers the chance to be excellent for Christ."

Garrett Glanton - Trinity Christian
• Top 30 player in Texas for the 2015 class
• Captain of Trinity Christian team
• Member of National Honor Society
Coach Tom Shaw says: "I am thrilled to have a player of Garrett's ability at ACU; he is one of the best golfers in the state. Garrett had a great visit to campus and he saw the wonderful environment that ACU offers its student-athletes. Garrett is excited about the potential of golf program and wants to be a key contributor to its rise to excellence."
John Biavati - Prestonwood Christian
• 2nd place individual finisher at 2015 Texas High School TAAPS Championship
Coach Tom Shaw says: "It didn't take me long to know that John Biavati belonged at ACU. He is a young man of high character and a quiet leader, demonstrating by his actions the path for others to follow. John is also a tireless worker, both on his golf game and on his fitness. Although he is only been playing golf for a short time, he shown extraordinary improvement in his scoring average the last two years, quickly becoming one of Dallas-Ft.Worth's top junior golfers."
Jack Connor - Southlake Carroll
• 2 Year Captain of 2015 Texas 6A State Champion Southlake Carroll
Coach Tom Shaw says: "Jack Connor is a born leader, demonstrated by his being named captain of the powerhouse Southlake Carroll golf team. He is committed to making others around him better; the true sign of a servant leader, so he fits the ACU mold perfectly. Jack brings an unparalleled work ethic and drive to ACU Golf. He is an excellent player, yet continues to strive for daily improvement. Jack Connor will be big part of our program's future."
Ryan Beatty - McLennan Community College
• All-District and All-Region in 2013.
• 72.4 scoring average and 2 victories at McLennan
Coach Tom Shaw says: "Ryan was one McLennan's best players and brings to ACU a wealth of experience plus dynamic ball-striking ability. He is currently enrolled at ACU this spring so he has already hit the ground running and bonded well with the team. You will see big things from Ryan Beatty during the next two years. We are fortunate to have him on the squad."
