Wildcats Tied For Second After First Round Of The Territory Classic

DUNCAN, Okla. - Abilene Christian's 13th-ranked golf team is tied for second place with Incarnate Word at nine-over-297 following the first round of action at The Territory Classic. Both Lone Star Conference schools trail first-place Texas A&M-Commerce by five strokes but lead fourth-place Midwestern State by three.

The two-day tournament is being hosted by Cameron University at the The Territory Golf Club, which is located east of the school in nearby Duncan, Okla.

The Wildcats had three of its five players finish among the top-10 Monday led by senior Alex Carpenter, who is tied for third after shooting an even-par 72. Ahead of him are Incarnate Word's Alejandro Flores (2-under-70) and Commerce's Patrick Russo (1-under-71). Carpenter is tied with Commerce's C.J. Clem and St. Mary's Alex Bissaro.

Redshirt senior Morgan Johnson shot a 1-over-73 and is tied with Dallas Baptist's John Olin for sixth, while junior Trey Sullivan is in a eight-way tie for eighth place at 2-over-74. 

Wildcat sophomore Corbin Renner and senior Kyle Dickerson each shot a six-over-78 and are tied for 43rd heading into Tuesday's second and final round.
