Alex Carpenter Named Lone Star Conference Golfer of the Week

ABILENE - Junior Alex Carpenter Wednesday was announced as the Lone Star Conference's Golfer of the Week after helping Abilene Christian place fourth at the prestigious Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invitation.
Playing against a field that included six of the nation's top 20 teams in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division II College Coaches' poll, Carpenter finished tied for seventh at 5-under-par 216.
The Little Rock, Ark., native shot rounds of 70-72 on Monday and capped his tournament run with a 3-under-par 69 on Tuesday.
Carpenter is the second Wildcat to earn the conference's weekly award this season, joining sophomore and March 14 winner Trey Sullivan.
The eighth-ranked ACU Wildcats return to action April 9 for the start of the two-day Dallas Baptist Golf Classic.
